Calgary, Alberta, June 6, 2003 - Veer, a provider of unique visual elements and design-related products, today announced that the company has signed an agreement to be the exclusive worldwide distributor of the Jukebox Typeface Foundry. Through this partnership, Veer debuts a distinctive collection of script, display, and gothic typefaces created by designer and typographer Jason Walcott. With the addition of Jukebox type, Veer now brings creatives over 1,400 type families from 9 foundries.
The Jukebox Type Foundry expresses a unique typographic flair, capturing a vitality and optimism not seen since the age of the sign painter and the birth of modern graphic design. Walcott’s designs embody the myriad media influences of his hometown - Hollywood, California - where the nation’s cultural agenda is set. The result is a bold, extravagant type library with a decidedly American feel. This highly usable collection of 56 faces includes many script faces, from playful to formal, along with stylized display faces and gothic types. Walcott also revives such forgotten faces as Debonair, Opulence, and Primrose, restoring them in full digital splendor, offering designers a wealth of creative possibilities.
“At Veer we understand that creatives need to keep finding inspiration, whether it’s pursuing something completely new or seeing old ideas in new ways,” said Drina Lazar, one of the founding partners of Veer. “That’s why we’re always looking for inspiring visual elements, selecting both established and undiscovered collections that celebrate creativity and style. The addition of the Jukebox Type Foundry is another example of our commitment to bringing creatives exclusive, compelling products that help them create effective design solutions for their clients. We are very pleased to debut this vibrant collection.”
“Whether it’s a logo, a sign, an ad headline, or a movie title, I am heavily influenced by the whimsical and often ingenious designs of hand lettering from the ‘50s and ‘60s. I try to capture this aesthetic in the faces that make up the Jukebox collection,” said Jason Walcott of Jukebox. “I am thrilled to partner with Veer, a company that honors the integrity of my type collection and exhibits a high degree of respect for designers and the creative process itself.”
