New York, New York, June 2, 2004 - Veer, a provider of unique visual elements and design-related products, today announced the company has signed an agreement appointing Photonica as a major international distribution partner for Veer’s distinctive collection of rights-managed photography. This agreement fuels Veer’s aggressive expansion into new markets, increasing the company’s global distribution network to more than 40 countries around the globe.
Under the agreement, Photonica will distribute the Solus library of rights-managed photography through its direct offices and agent network, including such key markets as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan. With kindred brands and distinct synergies among the two companies, Veer’s discriminating offering of contemporary, high-quality imagery complements Photonica’s commitment to excellence. More than 12,000 images will be loaded onto the Photonica network with additional new images coming on stream every month. With the Solus archive now fully integrated into the Veer business, the company is investing significant resources into the growth of this signature collection. Substantial new imagery will be added from a roster of preeminent photographers, including Antony Nagelmann, John Churchman, and Michael Grecco.
“From day one we set out to build a compelling alternative content offering that delivers distinct benefits to creatives. We’ve gained great traction in North America and now by partnering with Photonica, we’ve not only expanded our international distribution exponentially, but also aligned with a company that shares our design-driven approach and commitment to quality,” said Don Wieshlow, founding member of Veer responsible for product strategy. “We see great potential in this partnership and expect strong future growth via the Photonica distribution platform.”
“We are very pleased to partner with Veer and offer the Solus library through our network to discerning creatives around the globe,” said David Neilson, CEO of Photonica. “The Solus archive is a sophisticated collection that brings a new dimension to our offering. We’re looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship with our partners at Veer.”
“It’s great to see a company like Veer that really delivers on its commitment to photographers,” said Solus photographer Antony Nagelmann. “Not only have the people at Veer built a robust resale network into important markets around the world in very short order, they’ve taken a truly strategic approach that includes developing strong partnerships with key players like Photonica. This kind of vision and foreign distribution expertise translates into real opportunity for photographers.”
By broadening the availability of the Solus collection of rights-managed photography through the Photonica distribution network, customers will be able to take advantage of localized currency, search, and language options. All images in the Solus library are rights-managed and exclusivity is available either by industry or total protection. Rights-managed pricing is calculated per image use based on such factors as placement, usage, region, and circulation. Images are delivered in digital format as RGB JPEG files and generally range in size from 50 to 80 MB.
